RESEARCH INTERESTS:

Dr. Vorp's research interests are in the area of vascular biomechanics (i.e., integrating mammalian vascular physiology with finite elasticity and other theories). His current work focuses on the assessment of mechanical factors in the genesis and progression of vascular diseases such as arterial aneurysms, atherosclerosis, vascular graft failure, etc., and in the development of tissue-engineered blood vessels. Dr. Vorp is also involved in the biomechanical analysis of vascular devices (e.g., endovascular grafts, traditional bypass grafts, anastomosis facilitators, etc.), vascular tissue, and other soft tissue. Specific details on each of these areas may be found in the main Laboratory Research link.
